Voluntarism

Voluntarism,  a word that has been misunderstood and has not been interpreted correctly.  Voluntarism is associated with solidarity and selfless offering.  In this day and age most people believe that work without payment is a waste of time and we should be rewarded for whatever help or offer we give.  This results in demanding money for the slightest help we give to people or the environment.

Though there are many social, economical and environmental problems, nobody seems to be trying to find a solution.  There are not enough resources to see to them and thereby are left to their own fate.  These problems grow day by day and there comes a point where any solution seems impossible.  This is where volunteers are important by offering lots of time and try to make this world a better place.  The more volunteers there are, the less problems there will be around the world thus creating more of a balance.

Due to the demanding work load, most of us prefer spending time on meaningless things that do not really fulfill us.   With voluntary  work we fight against social exclusion.  Moreover, we learn about creating social works by actively participating in the process of exchanging experiences and knowledge.  The result is obtaining social, communication and business skills, thereby developing new skills.

We can all find some free time that we can put to better use.  During the course of the day we waste time on meaningless pursuits. We all have hobbies and activities but we could join a group where we can offer our knowledge or our time for a good cause.  In the end, you will be rewarded with moral and emotional satisfaction.

Ask, learn, read, search – and you will not be disappointed.   When we work as a team, we can achieve a lot more than by working individually.  Together we will be the change that we want to see!
